Chris Insoll

Chris attended Chelsea School of Art and Falmouth School of Art before establishing himself in Portscatho, based in the heart of the Roseland Peninsula on the South Cornish Coast. Chris's work has been widely exhibited in both solo and group exhibitions throughout the United Kingdom and Europe. He now plays an integral role in the promotion of Cornish Art having founded the highly successful Portscatho Society of Arts in 1984, providing a vehicle for local artists to paint together. He is now involved in encouraging local artists in Truro, lifting the profile of Cornish art and artists.

Chris's subjects range from dramatic coastal Landscapes to the intricate study of commonplace objects which are worked and reworked in his Still Life paintings. Chris predominantly works in oil, which provides him with the flexibility to explore both the physical and artistic boundaries of this medium. He is currently concentrating on Abstract compositions. These have slowly evolved from his earlier figurative paintings of the same subjects, and his latest paintings reflect the influences of such great artists as Cezanne, Picasso and Braque for whom he has great admiration.
